SPECIAL

It’s wild how far Indieformer has come in the last 12 months. This time last year, I never would’ve imagined we’d be saying: we’re publishing a game.

What started as a simple newsletter to get great games into players’ hands has grown into so much more. First came the jam, a chance to celebrate ideas right at their inception. Then Waypoint, our indie-curated calendar, to keep every recommendation in one easy place. And now… we’re stepping up again. Into publishing.

It’s exciting, it’s scary — but that’s why we do it.

We’re proud (and a little nervous) to announce our first published game:

omg we’re publishing this — someone pinch me!

I love games like Slay the Spire, Inscryption, and Balatro. Clem (Indieformer’s newest addition) takes that even further — he’s clocked hundreds of hours in each. So when Dragon Fodder landed the my inbox, I knew we had something special.

You built an island to thrive, but the seas beyond are full of danger. So you struck a deal with a dragon: twenty years of protection in exchange for twenty years of dinner service. Keep it fed, keep it friendly… and maybe, just maybe, survive the contract.

It’s a roguelike tabletop strategy where you roll dice, build absurd combos, and cook meals to keep your dragon fed and your island alive. Hex tiles, recipes, buildings, and numbers going gloriously off the charts — all wrapped in hand-drawn medieval charm.

The main “board”

The game’s only in alpha, but the bones are tasty. And we’re beyond psyched to help bring it into the world.

Now, this newsletter isn’t about to change. You’ll still get the same variety of indie gems a few times each month. But Dragon Fodder deserves its own spotlight (that’s a very biased opinion). If you’d like to follow along on that journey, here’s how:

Follow along on X (Twitter), Threads, or Bluesky.

The Indieformer Team

Thanks for reading — and if you ever want to chat games, marketing, or the weirdness of the indie grind, we’re always lurking on Threads, BlueSky and X. Come say hi.

We’ve also put together a few free guides to help indie devs get their projects in front of the right people. You can view them anytime: Steam Marketing Guide, Press Kit Guide.
